Mahama submits list of 10 Regional Minister-nominees to Parliament

President John Mahama’s administration has written to Parliament to request approval for 10 regional ministers.

The letter to the Speaker of Parliament describes and portfolios the President’s candidates for these offices.

This move is part of his efforts to reorganize his government after taking office.

Mahama has previously proposed a reduction in the number of government ministries, from 29 to 23, as part of an administrative reorganization program aimed at increasing efficiency and streamlining government operations.

The most recent document identifies ten nominees to lead various areas in Ghana, along with a formal request for legislative approval in accordance with constitutional restrictions.

See the nominations below:

Greater Accra: Linda Ocloo

Northern — Ali Adolf John

Oti – John Kwadwo Gyapong

Volta – James Gunu

Eastern: Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey

North-East: Ibrahim Tia

Ashanti, Dr. Frank Amoakohene

Upper East: Akamugri Donatus Atanga.

Ahafo – Charity Gardiner

Savannah-Salisu Bi-Awuribe

It is unknown what is holding up the nomination of Minister-nominees for the remaining six areas.

However, in Bawku today, the President announced that appointments for critical ministerial and security roles are being made to guarantee that the appropriate leadership is in place to deal with the situation.

“We will designate the Minister of Defense, Minister of Interior, National Security Adviser, National Security Coordinator, BNI Director, and all other officials this week.

“When these appointments are made, I am going to charge them to make Bawku one of their number one priorities,” said Mahama, the president.

The President also urged locals to be patient and restrained as his administration works for a long-term solution.
