The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama, has emphasized the importance of keeping Ghanaians from imitating the recent unrest in Kenya.

Kenyans have been participating in decentralized mass protests against tax increases and President William Ruto’s resignation for the past few days.

John Mahama indicated that the next NDC administration would generate many chances, especially for the burgeoning youth population, while criticizing the Akufo-Addo-led administration for what he saw as mismanagement of the economy.

On July 5 on a working visit to the La Dadekotopon constituency, Mahama said, “They say the population of Africa is young, and that’s good. However, it can become a time bomb if your population is young and you’re not giving them opportunities.

“We have all seen what is happening in Kenya, we don’t want that to happen in Ghana. And so, when we come, things are going to be different. It’s not going to be business as usual; we want to be a government in a hurry to repair the mess created by Bawumia and Akufo-Addo.

“The people of Ghana are looking to NDC to come and rescue them from the hardships in which they have been plunged…We will do things that will turn the economy around as quickly as possible.”
