Mahama responds to dumsor allegations

President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that his government is firm in its commitment to resolving the energy problem and averting a return to the era of “dumsor” (regular power outages).

On Thursday, January 9, President Mahama addressed the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission Ghana, acknowledging the country’s severe issues, particularly in the energy sector.

He assured the public that his administration is completely dedicated to confronting these issues head on.

We are taking office at a critical point in our nation’s history. Ghana is dealing with tremendous issues. But that is exactly why you elected us.

We will transparently let you understand what those challenges are and we will take responsibility for solving them,” he told them.

The President emphasized the imminent potential of power outages due to limited fuel supplies for electricity generating.

However, he urged Ghanaians to be optimistic and confident in his government’s ability to find long-term answers.

There is a risk of power interruptions, but dear brothers and sisters, do not despair. “You elected us to solve problems, not to blame others,” President Mahama remarked.

He said that on Wednesday, January 8, he convened a stakeholders’ conference to explore and adopt novel measures to stabilize the energy supply.

I can assure you of some of the concepts they have generated. We will ensure that your lights remain on and that we do not have dumsor,” he remarked.

President Mahama remarked that the energy sector’s issues require immediate and concerted measures, and his administration is ready to lead the way in overcoming them.
