“He [Gyake Quayson] is lowly, fearful of God, and respects people of all walks of life. If God makes it possible for me to become president, there is nothing that will prevent me from assigning him to a ministerial position.

Look at what he has been able to accomplish with his own money in terms of development, even if he is a member of the opposing party. Just try to envision what he would accomplish in the role of minister,” Mahama continued.

Following the invalidation of Mr. Quayson’s victory in the parliamentary election held in Assin North in 2020, the Electoral Commission decided to hold a by-election in the district. The by-election was planned to take place in Assin North.

After determining that NDC candidate Gyakye Quayson was guilty of holding dual citizenship before filing to compete in the 2020 polls, the Supreme Court ordered Parliament to erase Gyakye Quayson’s name from its records. This caused the election to be declared null and void.
