Mahama, NDC bigwigs storm parliament; Check out why

John Dramani Mahama is currently present in parliament to see the swearing-in ceremony of re-elected Member of Parliament (MP) James Gyakye Quayson for the constituency of Assin North.

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running partner for the NDC in the 2020 election, as well as Prof. Joshua Alabi and other prominent members of the party, are both present for the all-white celebration.

In addition, there is a party delegation here that is led by the Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, as well as other  executives and traditional elders.

To commemorate Mr. Quayson and to show our appreciation, the chamber has been painted almost entirely white, with the Minority side receiving special attention.

After being expelled from parliament as a result of a judgement from the Supreme Court, Mr. Quayson’s re-election on June 27, 2023, as a result of his participation in the ceremony to take the oath of office, is an important moment.

He received 17,245 votes, which is 57.56 percent of the total, which allowed him to defeat Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party, who received 42.15 percent of the votes, and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana, who collected a meagre 0.29 percent of the votes.
