Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central, has been officially appointed as Parliament’s next Majority Leader, succeeding Cassiel Ato Forson, now Minister of Finance.
The move, expected to bring strategic realignment within the NDC Caucus, also sees Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi, assuming the role of Majority Chief Whip.
He is scheduled to succeed Governs Agbodza, who just became Minister of Roads and Highways.
Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, MP for Cape Coast South, is expected to become the Deputy Majority Leader, succeeding Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who has gone to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
Additionally, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, the current Second Deputy Whip, is rumored to be in line for promotion to First Deputy Whip. This prospective promotion would bolster the majority leadership team on the front bench.
The change reflects the Majority Caucus leadership’s attempts to maintain effective coordination and stability while newly appointed ministers adjust to their posts.
The amendments are intended to encourage Parliament and the executive branch to work together to advance the government’s policy agenda and national development goals.
Additional announcements about these leadership changes are planned in the following days.
