Kumawu by-election takes place today

Today, May 23, is the day for the by-election that needs to be held in Kumawu, which is located in the Ashanti region.

The Electoral Commission has already delivered all of the electoral materials that were required to the various polling places located throughout the constituency.

The police have stated that sufficient precautions have been put into place to ensure peace and security in addition to the maintenance of law and order prior to, during, and following the election.

According to statements made by the police, a suitable number of personnel have been sent to Kumawu and the other communities located within the constituency in order to support the efforts of the local police to provide security for the election.

“As part of the security arrangement, the police this morning engaged the parties contesting the election, including the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and one of the independent candidates, to enhance collaboration among all stakeholders towards a peaceful election. The goal is to have a peaceful election.

“Unfortunately, the other independent candidate in the election was unable to accept the invitation to attend the meeting,” the statement read.

The National Chairman and General Secretary of the NPP led their respective teams, while the General Secretary and National Organizer of the NDC led their respective teams. According to a statement, the independent candidate attended the meeting and represented himself there.
