Kremlin: Dagestan airport violence result of ‘outside influence’

The Kremlin stated on Monday that “outside influence” was responsible for an anti-Israeli mob's attack on an airport in the capital of the southern Russian republic of Dagestan on Sunday.

The attack took place on Sunday. Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin, recently talked with reporters and said the following: “It is well known and obvious that yesterday's events around Makhachkala airport are largely the result of outside interference, including information influence.”

Peskov stated that “ill-wishers” have used photographs that were widely viewed of people suffering in Gaza in order to stir up people in a region of the north Caucasus that is mostly Muslim. He did not elaborate on who the Kremlin believed was behind the violence or why they held this belief.

After hundreds of anti-Israel protestors stormed the airport in Makhachkala on Sunday, shortly after an aeroplane from Israel arrived, the Russian ministry of the interior announced on Monday that sixty individuals had been arrested in connection with the incident.
