Ken Agyapong, a former Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a top contender for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearership, hosted a luxurious lunch for former metropolitan, municipal, and district chief executives from the Akufo-Addo administration.

The party’s National Council just announced that the presidential primaries will be held on January 31, 2026.

“Today, I had the privilege of meeting with 268 former MMDCEs at my private office in Accra. We talked honestly and openly about the future of our party and our nation, which we adore. On June 19, he stated on Facebook, “I stressed how important it was to rebuild our party on the basis of unity, fairness, and respect for grassroots leadership.”

“I also said again that I will run in the next primaries and talked about how unfairly the last government treated all MMDCEs.

He said at the conference over food and drinks, “Too much centralisation in Accra hurt local government, took real power away from MMDCEs, and stopped development in our communities.”

Ken Agyapong told them that “under my leadership, that will change.” It’s time to give public service back its dignity and give genuine power back to the people who live there. “We will rebuild and rise together.”

Earlier, more than 60 current Members of Parliament went to the office of the former Vice President and NPP flagbearer in the 2024 presidential election to show their support for his bid to head the party again.

He was happy with the gesture and promised to lead the party to victory.
