Faustina Ackom, 35, was shot on Sunday by her 41-year-old husband, Wahibu Bukari, on suspicion of infidelity in Anum, Assin North District, Central Region.
Faustina was allegedly shot following an argument about adultery accusations.
Faustina sustained injuries to her inner left arm and breast and is now being treated at St Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu.
The pair has been married for ten years and has four children.
According to eyewitnesses, Faustina called for aid about 1:00 a.m. on Sunday.
One of them, Lydia Yeboah, stated that the suspect, who had been sick for some time, suspected his wife, a merchant, of cheating on him.
Bukari was alleged to have discovered several phone numbers on his wife’s phone and woke her up at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday to question her, suspecting she was cheating on him with the persons behind those phone numbers.
Witnesses claimed that during the ensuing dispute, Bukari shot her in the left arm and breast as she sought to exit the scene.
Faustina’s cries for help drew the attention of neighbours, who raced to her aid.
The suspect is believed to have fled the area immediately following the attack and is now on the run.
Residents speculated that the culprit may have escaped to Assin Fosu, Kushia, or Twifo Praso.
Police investigations are still underway.
A team from the Assin Fosu divisional police command visited the victim in the hospital to check the severity of her injuries and acquire personal information.
