President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) initiative, promising to address issues and improve educational outcomes.
During his ‘Thank You Tour‘ in the Central Region on Thursday, February 6, 2025, Mr. Mahama emphasized education as a key priority.
He discussed plans to improve the Free SHS program by getting dedicated funds and decentralizing food purchases to promote more effective operations.
“Education will remain a priority and we will work to provide the best possible learning environment for our children at all levels.”And ensuring that our youth have the necessary skills to compete in the global economy. We intend to improve the Free SHS programme by securing dedicated financing and distributed food procurement.”
Mr. Mahama also announced implementing a “no academic fees” program to provide financial aid to continuing students, as well as a commitment to expanding tertiary institutions’ infrastructure to handle growing student populations.
