Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education, has encouraged the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to reveal the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results as soon as possible in order to alleviate candidate and public concern.
Speaking at the 2025 WAEC Distinction Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 26, the Minister praised WAEC and the Ghana Education Service (GES) for successfully organising the statewide exam while emphasising the need of timely results.
“Let me congratulate you on a very successful BECE exams. What we anticipate from you now is an early, timely distribution of the findings so that students’ worry and nervousness decrease,” he stated.
Mr. Iddrisu also announced plans to create a legal framework to revamp the country’s scholarship system.
He stated that the Ghana Scholarship Authority Bill would be introduced to Parliament shortly on President John Dramani Mahama’s behalf.
“In the coming weeks, I will introduce the Ghana Scholarship Authority Bill to Parliament, as promised by President Mahama, to address concerns of nepotism in the scholarship award process,” according to him.
The Minister urged the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, Peter Nortsu Kotoe, and other MPs to support the bill when it comes before the House.
