Ghanaian Politicians Are “Galamsey” Kingpins – Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, an MP for Assin Central, has said that Ghana is having trouble putting a stop to illegal mining, also called “Galamsey,” in its tracks because a lot of important politicians are involved in the problem.

Mr. Agyapong, who is seeking to contest the upcoming elections as the presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has promised to put an end to the problem of illegal mining if he is given the green light to do so. Ghana is having trouble with illegal mining, and several attempts to solve the problem have failed so far.

“I will be honest with you; we all want the galamsey problem in Ghana to be fixed, but read my lips, most politicians are involved.” ” I will be honest with you.

“The vast majority of them, and I am not afraid of them. “Both the NPP and the NDC are complicit in the galamsey problem. This is the motivation that drives them (the galamseyers) to engage in galamsey.

He remarked, “I don’t do galamsey, so when I tell you to go and register for small-scale mining and you say you’ll harm the water, I’m worried the law will deal with you.” He added, “I don’t do galamsey because I don’t do it.”

This information was divulged by Mr. Agyapong while he was speaking to a diverse group of Ghanaians in the United States of America.

He went on to say that “the way they are depleting our water sources, there will come a time when we will have no choice but to import water.” That should not be allowed to continue in any way.

“So those who are participating, we are not coming to take your jobs,” he explained, “but we will make sure that you all go under small-scale mining that will preserve the forest and protect our water bodies.” “We will make sure that you all go into small-scale mining.”
