Ghana needs experience, not experiment – Mahama declares as he joins NDC flagbearer race

John Dramani Mahama, a former president of Ghana, is confident that he is the most qualified candidate to head the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the subsequent general election.

According to Mr. Mahama, the current state of the country is at its most precarious level, and for that reason, the party cannot risk presenting a candidate who does not have the knowledge to confront the challenges head-on.

On Thursday, March 2, as he officially declared his candidacy to lead the NDC into Election 2024, he stated, “Ghana at this time does not need a ‘try-me-too leader.” He made this statement in conjunction with the event.

“Ghana needs a leader who is willing to accept responsibility and work to fix the problem, not one who is quick to point the finger at others.”

These remarks were made by him during the launch of his flagbearership campaign, which was centered on the theme of “Building the Ghana We Want Together.”

In his speech to the party faithful in Ho, John Mahama explained that trust in the government led by Akufo-Addo has been eroded as a result of the economic mismanagement that has resulted from incompetent, inefficient leadership and general nonperformance that he described as abysmal.

He attributed this erosion to the fact that Akufo-Addo has been in office for a relatively short period of time.

“Our current state and how it affects our people is a major source of concern for me,” he said.

The former President stated that he has been keeping track of the issues facing the country for some time now, and he added, “Of course, I Know How to Deliver That Badly Needed Change.”

The candidate for the position of flagbearer insisted that “We will not run a government of slogans, but instead we will run a government of action.”

Mr. Mahama is one of the many prominent figures in Ghana who are vying for the position of flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2024 election. Other candidates include the former minister of finance, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor; the former mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu; and businessman Ernest Kwaku Krobea.
