‘Ghana is no longer a safe haven for corruption’ – Mahama brags

President John Mahama has warned that Ghana is no longer a safe haven for corruption, urging all stakeholders to join forces in the fight against this terrible crime.

The leader said, “For those who think they can defraud the state and escape justice, let this serve as a strong warning: Ghana is no longer a safe haven for corruption.

Mr Mahama made this statement on Monday after receiving a report on corruption and associated cases from the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) team, which he established and charged with identifying and retrieving looted state assets by former President Akufo-Addo’s government members.

He underlined that the state will remain firm with those who prioritize responsibility.

To those who stand for integrity, accountability, and the rule of law, I assure you that this government remains your steadfast partner in building a nation where honesty and hard work are rewarded,” he said.

The president said, “We must all do our part—citizens, civil society, the media, and public officials alike.” Together, we will create a Ghana that is just, transparent, and successful for future generations.

Overall, the ORAL team, lead by Chairman Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, presented 2,417 instances to the president. According to Mr Ablakwa, once the cases are examined and assets recovered, the country will generate a total of $21.19 billion.

The studies emphasize frequently stolen public assets, such as farmland and bungalows.

ORAL is the president’s program aimed at combating corruption in the country. The president immediately forwarded the report to Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, for further inquiry and possibly prosecution.

Mr. Mahama finished by emphasizing that any punishment resulting from these findings will be imposed without fear or favour.
