In a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying encounter, Ghana will face the Central African Republic (CAR) at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi today, Monday, June 10, 2024.

The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. local time.

The Black Stars are fresh off a thrilling 2-1 triumph over Mali in their previous qualifying match, where goals from Jordan Ayew and Ernest Nuamah sealed the three points. With six points, Ghana is presently tied for third place in the group with leaders Madagascar and second-place Comoros.

Venuste Baboula’s goal in the first half of CAR’s match against Chad, however, gave them their first victory of the qualifiers. In their last four games, Les Fauves have not lost, scoring twelve goals, giving up just one, and keeping three clean sheets.

Ghana will be without several key players due to injuries, including Inaki Williams, Joseph Paintsil, Majeed Ashimeru, and Daniel Amartey. Captain Andre Ayew was also not invited by coach Otto Addo, who is putting his trust in younger players.

The Black Stars’ front three of Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, and Ernest Nuamah are expected to lead the line again. CAR’s record goalscorer, Louis Mafouta, will hope to find the net for the visitors.

A convincing victory for Ghana could see them leapfrog their opponents and move closer to the top of the group. However, CAR will be looking to cause an upset and secure a positive result on Ghanaian soil.
