The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the opening of applications for the promotion of qualified teachers and officials to higher ranks in the service.

The promotion process involves four categories: Deputy Director, Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Principal Superintendent. According to GES, applications are only accepted from serving teachers who meet the eligibility requirements.
To be considered for promotion to Deputy Director, applicants must have been promoted to the level of Assistant Director I on or before 2020 and have served in their current position continuously since then, except for allowed leave periods.

Applicants for Assistant Director I must have reached the rank of Assistant Director II by 2020 under the same circumstances. Similarly, candidates for Assistant Director II must have been promoted to Principal Superintendent by 2020, whereas candidates for Principal Superintendent must have earned the position of Senior Superintendent I before 2020.

Teachers who have earned an appropriate undergraduate degree will be automatically placed at this level.
The GES further stated that teachers who plan to use Master’s or PhD degrees for promotion must ensure that the programme is part of an approved GES course of study.

Furthermore, the certificate should not have been received prior to their last promotion, and only certificates issued in or before 2022 will be acceptable for promotions to Assistant Director I, Assistant Director II, and Deputy Director positions.

GES recommended that applicants submit their forms online at https://bit.ly/gespromotions2025 or by scanning the official QR code supplied.

Each applicant must include a passport-sized image, their most recent promotion or appointment letter, and their highest academic certificate. All supporting documents, with the exception of the photograph, must be in PDF format and clear and legible.

The application window will open on Monday, August 18, and finish on Friday, September 5.
