Gen Jesus Durante Career and Biography

Gen Jesus Durante is originally from Davao, and he completed his education at the Philippine Military Academy Tanglaw Diwa in 1992.

Gen Jesus Durante has a master’s degree in defense analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in California, United States, and he also has a master’s degree in public management from the Development Academy of the Philippines, where he majored in development security. Both of these degrees were earned at the same time.

Gen Jesus Durante, who described himself as a “full-blooded Scout Ranger,” was in charge of the 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion, which was part of the 1st Scout Ranger Regiment and was stationed in Mindanao. In 2003, he was honored with the Cavalier Award for Army Operations, presented by the PMA Alumni Association.

In addition to that, he served as a military observer with the United Nations mission in Wau, South Sudan, in 2007.

On February 24, 2020, at a time when Rodrigo Duterte was serving as president, Durante was given the position of PSG commander.

Before he got this job, he was the officer in charge of the Presidential Escorts Battalion of the Presidential Security Group. This unit was in charge of protecting the president and other VIPs right away.

In December of 2020, Durante publicly admitted that he was responsible for the improper use of unlicensed COVID-19 vaccinations. The personnel who provided close-in security for Duterte were the ones who actually gave the vaccination to the rest of the military.

Franklin Drilon, who was serving as the minority leader of the Senate at the time, demanded that Senator Durante be called in to explain the unlawful use of the vaccine. According to an article on Inquirer.net, Drilon later said that inviting Durante was no longer necessary.

Civil and military investigations into Durante and his company would continue concurrently, as stated by the head of the Philippine Army, Lieutenant General Romeo Brawner Jr.

He stated that the court processes for Durante and other army officers will be respected by the armed forces.

Brawner also mentioned that investigations would continue to discover whether or not the cops working under Durante were given orders to carry out the murder.
