Economy, corruption, infrastructure will determine outcome of 2024 elections – Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante

Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante, who teaches political science at the University of Ghana, says that how the government has handled the economy will determine who wins the general election in 2024.

Additionally, he continued, infrastructure and corruption would take center stage in political discourse during the election season.

According to Dr. Asah-Asante, no politician has the authority to decide whether or not to hand over power.

Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante continued, “It is up to the voters to decide.”

Bryan Acheampong, Minister of Food and Agriculture, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not cede power to the National Democratic Congress. He was making a comment in response to that. (NDC).

Bryan Acheampong had told members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the economy would get better.

Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante expressed hope that the deal would be finalised by June of this year, which would result in an uptick in the economy.

On April 8, following a health walk, the Abetifi Lawmaker declared, The NDC party will collapse,” speaking to NPP members in Kwahu. We will let the NDC know that we have the men if they try to employ violence, threats, or other dumb tactics during the 2024 election. We will demonstrate to them that we have men. The men are here.

We, the NPP, would never stand on a podium to offer the NDC the keys to the country. It will not ever take place! At all costs, we will make sure the NPP stays in power.

“Now with the way things are changing, the economy will bounce back again. I am telling you that we are going to come around that curve and we are going to win the 2024 elections handily,” the former secretary of state in charge of national security stated.

Dr. Asah-Asante responded to this by saying, “Yes, it is to be anticipated from a party that is desperate to have its mandate renewed.” However, his claim is meaningless because he has no control over who will cast a vote for them.

“It is their history that will demonstrate that, despite what he may claim, they will not cede power. However, when voters choose who should take over as president, you will see the truth. For the time being, I interpret it as a typical declaration from a party member who is frantically seeking influence.

“I believe that all political parties’ primary goal is to win the election and create the next government because if they do, they will undoubtedly be in power and unwilling to hand over power to the next administration. For me, he has no right to say that since he is not stating that; there are other things that affect voters’ decisions.
