ECG Mass Disconnection Exercise: Parliament settles GH¢8m out of GH¢13m owed ECG; Check out their next move

In order to avoid having its power cut off, the Ghanaian Parliament has paid the Electricity Company of Ghana approximately GH8 million toward the GH13 million debt it owed.

When the revenue mobilization taskforce from ECG visited the legislative house of Ghana with the intention of disconnecting the law-making house from the national power grid, the partial payment was made at that time.

The activity is being carried out as part of the power distributor’s effort to recoup more than GH5 billion in overdue debt owed by private and state institutions for non-payment since August of the previous year.

After announcing that all of its main offices, with the exception of those devoted to providing customer support, would be closed for the duration of the exercise, ECG opened its doors again today, March 20, 2023, and got to work.
