EC announces nomination dates and fees for 2024 elections

On Monday, September 9, the Electoral Commission (EC) will begin accepting nominations for the 2024 presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The deadline for nominations is this Friday, September 13.

 

Candidates can download nomination forms from the EC website starting on Friday, August 2, according to a press release published by the Commission on Thursday, August 1.

 

GH¢100,000 is the filing price for presidential candidates; female candidates and candidates with disabilities pay a reduced fee of GH¢75,000.

 

The filing price for parliamentary candidates is GH¢10,000; female candidates and candidates with disabilities can file for a discounted charge of GH¢7,500.

 

“Payment should be made to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission using a banker’s draft.”

Nomination forms will be accepted daily between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon, and again from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm during the nomination period.

 

The EC further mentioned that all matters concerning the presidential elections should be directed to the EC Chairperson, while issues related to parliamentary elections should be addressed to the Returning Officers of the constituencies.

 

“All inquiries relating to the Presidential Election should be addressed to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission and the Parliamentary Elections to the Returning Officers of the Constituencies where the Candidates seek election,” it concluded
