At the conclusion of the current season, Fulmer will be eligible to become a free agent. He is now 29 years old. He has made 41 appearances so far this season and has a 3.20 ERA, 3.22 FIP, 3.05 xERA, and 1.246 WHIP to his name.

In 39.1 innings pitched, he has retired 39 batters while only walking 20 batters. Unexpectedly, the Tigers are currently in Minnesota, which is the same place where Fulmer allowed four out of the five Twins players he faced to reach base on Monday. In the end, he couldn’t help his team get a 2-0 lead, so they lost the game after 10 innings.

After the transaction that sent Yoenis Cespedes to the New York Mets on July 31, 2015, Fulmer was acquired by the Tigers and spent the first five and a half seasons of his career with them.

It appeared, for a period of time, as though Fulmer might have been a professional in the field. In 2016, he was a starting pitcher for the American League and went on to earn the AL Rookie of the Year title. The following year, he participated in his most memorable All-Star game.

His statistics took a nosedive in 2018, just in time for him to miss the whole 2019 season after having Tommy John surgery. During the shorter mission in 2020, he was unable to get back to being a starting pitcher, as shown by his 8.78 earned run average (ERA), 2.060 walk-to-hit ratios (WHIP), and 6.5 strikeouts per nine innings pitched.

After being shifted to the bullpen and posting a 2.97 earned run average in 52 games, Fulmer’s career was given a new lease of life last year. In 69.2 innings, he was responsible for 73 batters being struck out, and he saved 14 games.
