President John Dramani Mahama has given all government appointees who have not yet complied with the assets declaration regulation a strict deadline of May 7, 2025, failing which they will be fired.

The President’s order coincides with further initiatives to ensure accountability and openness in his administration. The action comes after some appointments missed an earlier deadline of March 31.

Mahama underlined the gravity of the situation while speaking at the Code of Conduct for Government Appointees unveiling in Accra on Monday, May 5. He said that non-compliance will have dire implications for everyone.

“I will not compromise when it comes to protecting the integrity of this government, so if by the end of the day on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, any of you still haven’t declared your assets, count yourself automatically dismissed,” he added.

In addition, Mahama proposed financial penalties for defaulters, mandating that anyone who failed to meet the March deadline forfeit three months’ wages and make an obligatory one-month gift to the MahamaCares Fund.
