The reason that Damar Hamlin experienced a heart arrest has been disclosed.
In early January, Bills defensive back Hamlin collapsed on the field after making what appeared to be a routine tackle on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.
On Tuesday, Hamlin declared that he intended to make a comeback in the National Football League and described to reporters what doctors informed him about his close call with death.
Hamlin stated that commotio cordis was the official diagnosis for what had occurred to him.

“Cardiac arrest is caused by a blow that is delivered directly at a certain point in the rhythm of your heartbeat. After five to seven seconds, you will tumble out of the window, and this is pretty much what everyone saw on January 2 of this year. Since commotio cordis is the most common cause of mortality in young athletes participating in any sport, I have decided to make it one of my personal missions to work toward eradicating this problem.
Hamlin, who is 25 years old, spoke about the reasons he wants to get back into football.
Hamlin stated, “My heart is still in it,” referring to his involvement in the project. “The game still has a hold on my heart. The game is so much fun. I just want to show people that fear is a choice and that you can keep going even if you don’t know what’s at the end of the tunnel.
This is something I want to prove to myself, not to anyone else. It’s possible that you’ll experience anxiety or any number of other emotions, but the important thing is to just keep moving forward by putting one foot in front of the other.
The Bills made the announcement early on Tuesday that Hamlin has been given the all-clear to participate in football activities again.
During his news conference, Hamlin also stated, “I died on national TV in front of the whole world,” and that he plans to use the lessons he learned from his brush with mortality to work toward preventing similar incidents in the future.
Jordon Rooney of Jaster Athletes, who serves as Hamlin’s marketing rep, has criticized everyone who has hypothesized about other possible reasons for Hamlin’s cardiac attack.
“As Damar recovered from this, he was the subject of intense examination for a number of months. There were ridiculous hypotheses floating around about his health status.
Commotio cordis was the diagnosis given by each and every physician. He went through a traumatic situation that permanently altered his life, and he wanted to conclude his medical testing before formally addressing the world,” Rooney tweeted.
