Confusion has erupted inside the NPP ahead of its National Delegates Conference after a High Court summons was issued designating two party members as plaintiffs in an action against the party, one of whom has disassociated himself from the matter.

The writ, issued by the High Court in Accra on July 17, 2025, identifies Shamsudeen Iddrisu of Walewale and Boateng Kwadwo of Bantama as plaintiffs, and the NPP (National Headquarters) as defendant.

The document requires the party to respond to the lawsuit within eight days.

Shamsudeen Iddrisu, on the other hand, quickly released a public statement dismissing the complaint on Thursday evening.

He maintained that he was unaware of the writ and had not authorised any legal assistance on his behalf.

“I entreat the public to disregard the writ as I have not instructed any lawyer to do this on my behalf,” the author stated.

“As a committed member of the NPP, I have absolute respect for the decisions of the National Council and would not use the courts to undermine such decisions.”

Mr Iddrisu reaffirmed his commitment to the party and expressed excitement about the approaching National Delegates Conference, which will take place this weekend at the University of Ghana.

The writ appears to dispute recent decisions by the party’s National Council, but the specifics of the accusations are not mentioned in the accessible area of the court document.

Boateng Kwadwo, the second identified plaintiff, has yet to comment publicly on the case.
