In addition to this, he established his own band, known as the Clyde Mnisi Quintet, which quickly garnered a following due to the original and soulful sound they produced.

Mnisi is a musician who is highly regarded in the gospel genre in addition to his work in the jazz genre. He has shared the stage with some of the most well-known gospel artists in South Africa, such as the Soweto Gospel Choir, Rebecca Malope, and Joyous Celebration, among others.

Clyde Mnisi’s exceptional skill at fusing the two musical styles has garnered him widespread acclaim and established him as one of the most in-demand performers not only in South Africa but also around the world.

Clyde Mnisi was awarded the prestigious Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Jazz in 2012, which is given annually to a young South African musician who has distinguished themselves in their field. He has also been awarded a number of South African Music Awards (SAMAs), in addition to receiving nominations for a number of these awards.

Mnisi was given the extremely prestigious position of artistic director of the Standard Bank Jazz Festival in 2019. This appointment was made in 2019, and it is a reflection of Mnisi’s standing in the South African music scene.

In addition, he has given performances at a great number of international festivals, some of the most notable of which include the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Montreal Jazz Festival.
