Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff, has summoned Sammy Gyamfi, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, following the release of a viral video showing him handing over an undisclosed sum of money—reportedly in US dollars—to evangelist and former fetish priestess Patricia Oduro Koranteng, better known as Nana Agradaa.

Sources at Jubilee House confirmed to Citi News that Sammy Gyamfi has been summoned to the Chief of Staff to explain the circumstances behind the transaction, which has provoked considerable public outrage and prompted worries about public officials’ ethical behaviour.

The video, which has been widely shared on social media, shows Gyamfi in what looks to be a personal interaction with Nana Agrada.

The reason and content of the cash exchange are unknown, but the optics of a senior public official delivering money to a controversial religious figure have sparked a flurry of speculation and public outrage.

Critics have said that the film could undermine President John Dramani Mahama’s recently established Code of Conduct for Public Officials, which emphasises integrity, accountability, and transparency in public service.

The code was implemented as part of a larger attempt to reduce corruption and rebuild public trust in government institutions.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, May 11, Sammy Gyamfi apologised for the event and stated that it was a private gesture of compassion that tragically made its way into public space.

However, sources say the Chief of Staff is approaching the situation with haste due to the political sensitivity and reputational dangers involved.

Nana Agradaa, a self-proclaimed preacher, has long been a divisive figure in Ghanaian public life. She was formerly recognised for her participation in ancient spiritual activities before openly renouncing them and establishing a Christian ministry.

Her previous legal difficulties and ongoing public controversies continue to draw scrutiny.
