Julius Debrah, Chief of Staff, has directed that all public sector appointments and recruitments made after the general election on December 7, 2024, be annulled due to noncompliance with good governance norms and principles.
In a letter to all heads of government institutions, the Chief of Staff stated that such last-minute hires violated the government’s declared policy on end-of-tenure recruitment.
“Consistent with government pronouncements about near end-of-tenure appointments and recruitment, I wish to bring to your attention that all appointments and recruitment made in the Public Services of Ghana after 7th December 2024, are not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles,” the letter’s opening section stated.
Heads of government institutions have been directed to take immediate measures to cancel these appointments and submit a full report on their actions to the Office of the Chief of Staff by February 17, 2025.
“Your cooperation in this matter is highly appreciated,” it states.
