Chelsea sign goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen on a seven-year deal

Goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal has officially joined Chelsea on a seven-year, £20.7 million contract.

After making 37 appearances for Villarreal in the previous campaign and establishing himself as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper, the 22-year-old Dane has joined the Blues.

Jorgensen declared, “This move is a dream come true.” “I’m thrilled to have signed with Chelsea, one of the top teams in the world. I’m excited to play with all of my new teammates and get to know them all.

Jorgensen will go off against Robert Sanchez, who was Chelsea’s top pick before injuries let Serbia’s Dorde Petrović seize the lead. After a loan stint at Real Madrid.

Born in Sweden but representing Denmark Under-21s, Jorgensen joined Villarreal’s youth system at age 15 and made his senior debut for the B side in October 2020. He made his La Liga debut in January 2023.

Filip has joined Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States and may feature in upcoming matches against Club America, Manchester City, or Real Madrid.

Chelsea kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Manchester City on Sunday, August 18.
