To improve Ghana’s tax and financial management systems, President John Mahama has approved eight important laws.

On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, the signatures were held at the Jubilee House.

The contentious E-Levy, which levied taxes on electronic financial transactions, was officially repealed by the Electronic Transfer Levy (Repeal) Bill, 2025, one of the bills that was signed into law.

The Emissions Levy (Repeal) Bill, 2025, which previously levied environmental fees on car owners, has also been repealed.

Additional legislation include the 2025 Gold Board Bill, the 2025 Petroleum Revenue Management (Amendment) Bill, 2025 Public Financial Management Bill, 2025 Value Added Tax (Amendment) Bill, the 2025 Earmarked Funds Capping and Realignment (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the 2025 Income Tax (Amendment) Bill.

In order to lower living expenses and promote corporate growth, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) promised the abolition in its manifesto.
