CHAN 2022: CAF awards Ghana three points after Morocco exit

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided that Ghana should be awarded three points and three goals for their match against Morocco in the third round of the African Nations Championship. The match took place earlier this month (CHAN).

The match between Ghana and the reigning champions was scheduled to take place on Monday, January 23, but it will not go through as planned since Morocco has decided to pull out of the competition.

The fact that Morocco did not show up for their first encounter against Sudan on the previous Sunday prompted the CAF to make the decision to change the modalities specifically for Group C of the competition.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) made the decision to award maximum points to the other three teams after reviewing the reports provided by the referee and match commissioner. These three teams are Sudan, Madagascar, and Ghana. In addition to that, we are going to give each of them a total of three goals.

Ghana, who were defeated by Madagascar in their first encounter, will now have three points, while Madagascar will remain in top place in the group with six points. Even though they haven’t played a single game so far, Sudan are now in second place with three points.

On Thursday evening, Ghana will compete against Sudan in a match that is part of the ongoing competition between the three teams for two slots.

Ghana will now need a win to be totally certain of continuing to the next stage, while Madagascar plans to settle for a draw when they face Sudan in their final encounter on Monday.
