According to shocking rumours, Brighton and Ajax striker Mohammed Kudus have reached an agreement on a contract that would shock the football world.
The Seagulls have already surpassed their previous transfer record this summer, when they paid just under £30 million to get Joao Pedro from Watford. However, they are now on the cusp of surpassing that mark once again.
According to the trustworthy David Ornstein of The Athletic, Brighton reportedly has a deal in principle in place to recruit the Ghana international player for the sum of £34.5 million.
Brighton agree huge club-record deal for Ajax star Mohammed Kudus
There is a full understanding between the two teams, and it is reported that Kudus, who is a primary target for both Chelsea and Arsenal, is getting close to reaching a personal deal.
Following the departure of midfielder Alexis MacAllister to Liverpool, manager Roberto De Zerbi was eager to acquire the services of the 23-year-old forward, who has scored 16 goals in 63 Eredivisie matches to date.
In the event that an agreement can be reached, Kudus will become Brighton’s seventh signing of the summer as the club gets ready for a historic season that will include participation in European competition.
Notable newcomers include James Milner and Mahmoud Dahoud, who both signed on free transfers when their previous contracts with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund expired. Milner and Dahoud were formerly employed by Liverpool and Dortmund, respectively.
Since Kudus turned down an offer of a contract extension back in April, it was clear that he was going to leave his present team and join Ajax. His current deal is set to run out in 2025.
The man who once played for Nordsjaelland has earned 24 caps for Ghana and has scored seven goals for the national team; two of his goals came in Ghana’s match against South Korea in the World Cup.
In the middle of this week, Brighton said “no” to an offer that was worth more than 80 million pounds for their outstanding midfielder Moises Caicedo.
The Premier League club Chelsea has presented a total of four different offers to acquire the Ecuadorian international midfielder.
Brighton has rejected each offer, in addition to rejecting the proposition from a club that shall remain nameless, and they are adamant that they will not be selling Caicedo.
He updated his agreement, which will keep him playing for the South Coast club until the year 2027.
