It is possible that Lionel Messi will leave Paris Saint-Germain soon.
Teams are already trying to entice the 35-year-old away this summer as his time with the French club continues to touch perplexing lows, most recently with fans whistling his name after a 1-0 loss to Lyon.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Messi received a formal offer from the Saudi Pro League team Al Hilal that involves a salary of around $400 million euros annually.
Messi, however, wants to stay at a major European club because he is still producing at a high level after winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup and has scored and assisted on 13 goals this season.
The Al Hilal rumours come a few days after Messi’s longtime team, Barcelona, announced that the club had spoken to the Argentine about a return.
Vice President Rafa Yuste stated on Friday, “Yes, we are in contact with [Messi’s team].” Happily ever afters should be the norm in beautiful stories, and the two parties share a love for one another.”
Messi departed the Catalan team in 2020–21 because the club could not afford to keep him on the books. Should he leave PSG this summer, the financial difficulties will still be a barrier to a prospective reunion.
Al Ittihad and Al Nassr are presently in first and second place, respectively, in the SPL, with Al Hilal in third place. Naturally, the latter is where Messi’s legendary foe, Cristiano Ronaldo, plays.
