Blakk Rasta, a radio personality and musician from Ghana, is giving back every trophy he has ever won in any of the several award competitions he has participated in over the years.
The statement was made in a video that was uploaded on Instagram by the radio personality, who has always spoken against the practice of “voting to win” at award ceremonies.
“I seldom ever do anything like this, but every once in a while, you know, we just need to answer a few things.” I have made it quite clear that I do not wish to take part in any kind of award program that requires voters to select the winners.
“In my opinion, it’s just another ploy to purchase votes.” Now, if you have an award program, you nominate some people, and then you ask the fans of these people that you have nominated to vote so that their favorite artist can win.
“Then, you go ahead and tell them that the more they vote, the more they place their artist on a higher pedestal for winning, and if the artist doesn’t win, the biggest excuse they normally give is that your people didn’t vote,” he shared. Now, if you have an award program, you can nominate
He said that in the past he had been oblivious to the fact that these awards could be purchased and that those who were more deserving of them were not given the credit they deserved for their accomplishments.
According to Blakk Rasta, one of his prayers is for everyone to eventually arrive at the same level of consciousness as he does.
“In order to win an award, one must now receive the most votes; it is no longer based on merit.” You can be the best in the world, but if the people in your country don’t participate in the election, you will still come in last place. As a result, I came to the conclusion that I would no longer take part in this. It’s over and done with at this point.
“At one point in time, we were a part of it.” But after we came to our senses, we felt that it was pointless to continue, and we vowed that we would never do it again. A great number of individuals have not yet arrived at that state of consciousness. They are not at fault in my eyes since everyone has their moment. He went on to say that their moment would arrive.
Abubakar Ahmed, alias Blakk Rasta, is a Ghanaian reggae / Kuchoko performer, dub poet, and radio host. The song “Barack Obama,” which he sang in honor of the 44th President of the United States, brought him the most fame.
