Accra Hearts of Oak finished their GHALCA Top 4 campaign with a valiant 2-0 victory over archrivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday, but Bibiani GoldStars won the trophy due to a better head-to-head record.

From the first whistle at the University of Ghana Stadium, the Phobians appeared sharp and motivated to finish the tournament on a strong note.

Their dominance was rewarded barely four minutes into the game as teenager Frank Duku capped off a beautiful 15-pass move by putting the ball through goalkeeper Ibrahim Mohammed’s legs.

After the break, Hearts continued to dominate play and nearly extended their advantage when replacement goalkeeper Mohammed Camara expertly deflected Martin Karikari’s thunderous half-volley onto the crossbar.

The second goal arrived in the 73rd minute, when Emmanuel Amankwah rose highest to head in from a corner, securing victory and sending Hearts fans into raptures.

Despite their convincing victory against their biggest rivals, Hearts were denied silverware, with GoldStars proclaimed champions of the 2025 pre-season competition based on head-to-head results.

The Top 4 event has been an essential preparation for all four participating clubs as they gear up for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
