Kwesi Baiden, a 71-year-old man, is one of the candidates taking the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at the Ahafoman Senior High School examination center “B” in Goaso, Ahafo area.
Due to financial hardships in his early years, the father of four disclosed that he was unable to complete basic education and receive a certificate.
Because of financial difficulties, he was forced to leave Mozama D/A School in the Central Region when he was in Junior High School (JHS) 2.
The COVID-19 pandemic frustrated his hopes to return to school the following year.
Mr. Baiden now recognizes the value of continuing his studies in spite of these obstacles.
Mr.Baiden aims to acquire vocational skills in senior high school (SHS) and possibly continue to the tertiary level.
In an interview, the determined father revealed that pursuing formal education at his age is not to secure a corporate job, as he has already passed retirement age.
However, Mr. Baiden is confident his talent and newly acquired knowledge will open new opportunities for him.
His determination and perseverance inspire many, demonstrating that it is never too late to pursue one’s educational dreams.
