Assin North: One injured as macho men clash at voting centre

At the Assin Praso D/C School, there was a fight between two groups of macho men, thought to be affiliated with the National Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which resulted in one person being injured and caused panic among voters.

The conflict resulted in the firing of many weapons, several fistfights, and the destruction of multiple automobiles. As a direct consequence of this, an individual who had incurred injuries was rushed to the Assin Praso Presbyterian Hospital for medical attention as soon as possible.

Witnesses gave conflicting descriptions of what happened, adding another layer of complication to the predicament.

Central Regional Minister Justina Marigold Assan, who visited the area, blamed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for inciting the violence, despite the fact that she was in one of the NPP’s strongholds at the time.

Gabriella Tetteh, the Communications Officer for the Central Region, rebutted these assertions and asserted that the allegations were a fabrication manufactured by the NPP. However, the NPP continues to stand by its accusations.

The Electoral Commission assuaged the public’s concerns by assuring them that the incident would not have any impact on the voting procedures.

Sandys Boakye Yiadom Junior, the officer in charge of the Praso D/C Basic polling centre, gave assurances to the media that the voting will proceed according to plan in spite of the pandemonium that has occurred.
