Asante Kotoko has announced a significant technical setup revamp following the departure of Head Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.

Ogum’s departure was confirmed by the club following a dismal run of play in which the team went four games without a victory.

Despite leading the Porcupine Warriors to the Ghana Premier League championship in his first term, he eventually left due to growing pressure following recent setbacks.

Kotoko has 47 points after 28 games, good for fourth place in the league standings.

The club has responded to the problem by appointing Abdul Karim Zito, a former player, as its new Technical Director.

With a wealth of club and national experience, Zito is back. His credentials include leading Ghana’s U-20 team to victory in the 2021 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations and leading Dreams FC to the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals.

Zito will take on the additional responsibility of Acting Head Coach until a permanent replacement is found.

Additionally, Prince Yaw Owusu has joined the team as an assistant coach. With more than 20 years of experience, Owusu is a seasoned tactician who has coached in the US, Ghana, and Sudan.

Along with stints with Ghana’s U-17 and U-20 national teams, he has previously served as head coach of Medeama SC, Inter Allies, and Khartoum National Club.

Former Technical Director Malik Jabir, meantime, has been moved to the position of Technical Advisor. He will provide long-term direction to support the club’s overarching goal in this strategic capacity.
