A gang of heavily armed men, presumed to be National Security operatives, assaulted former Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor Dr. Ernest Addison‘s private apartment around early Wednesday.

The operation took place at 5 a.m. at Roman Ridge when Dr Addison was at home.

It was purportedly led by Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations for the National Security Secretariat.

The crew of 15 troops arrived in three separate vehicles, wielding firearms, and forced their way into the premises.

Upon arrival, the operatives quickly disabled the CCTV system before demanding that Dr. Addison escort them to alleged “vaults” buried within the property.

However, the former governor vehemently denied having any such vaults or money stockpiles, but the operatives proceeded to ransack the house, leaving it in shambles.

After a futile search, they reportedly requested National Security drivers to relocate four of Dr. Addison’s vehicles, leaving only two behind.

Before leaving, they seized the CCTV monitor and control equipment.

According to sources, the family was contacted later in the evening and ordered to retrieve the impounded automobiles, which were parked beside Jokers Club in Labadi.

Dr. Addison and his family are claimed to have been greatly shocked by the tragedy.

This comes after an operation at former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s Cantonments mansion a month ago while he was abroad of the country.

On February 11, 2025, a group of twelve people, including nine military men, plainclothes officers, and two other operatives, allegedly broke into Mr. Ofori-Atta’s home without a warrant or previous warning.
