The government has undergone a significant shakeup by the Bhartiya Janata Party. The new Union Law Minister has been named Arjun Ram Meghwal. Previously, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju was in charge of this division; going forward, he will be responsible for the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

According to a press statement from the Rashtrapati Bhawan, “Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State, be assigned the independent charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice in addition to his existing portfolios, in place of Shri Kiren Rijiju.”

The present Rajasthani member of Congress, Arjun Ram Meghwal, has been named the new Union Law Minister. Meghwal is currently in charge of the Ministry of Earth Sciences after displacing Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.

On December 20, 1953, in the Rajasthani city of Bikaner, in a place called Kishmidesar, Arjun Ram Meghwal was born. His father is Lakhu Ram Meghwal, and his mother is Hira Devi.

Meghwal is married to Pana Devi, and the two of them have four kids: two daughters and two sons, Ravi Shekhar and Naveen Meghwal. He is a skilled badminton player, and Madan Gopal Meghwal, an Indian National Congress politician, is his cousin. Now, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju will be in charge of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

Meghwal completed his local schooling before going on to complete his LLB at Dunagar College in 1977, a Master of Arts degree at the University of the Philippines in the Philippines in 1979, and a Master of Business Administration degree at the University of the Philippines in the Philippines in 1980.

Meghwal joined the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) in 1982 and was subsequently assigned as an assistant director at the Jila Udhyog Kendra, where he later served as general manager for the Jila Udhyog Kendras in the Rajasthani districts of Jhunjhnu, Dhaulpur, Rajsamvad, Jaipur, Alwar, and Shriganganagar.

Deputy Secretary for Technical Education, Special Secretary for Higher Education, Managing Director for Rajasthan Laghu Udhyog Nigam Limited, Additional Commissioner for the Commercial Tax Department, District Collector, and District Magistrate for Churu were just a few of the administrative positions he held during his time as an IAS.

He voluntarily left the Indian Administrative Service in order to enter politics.

Arjun Ram Meghwal was elected from the Bikaner constituency in 2009, and he took the oath of office in the Lok Sabha. He was then re-elected in 2014 to the 16th Lok Sabha from the Bikaner constituency.

Arjun Ram Meghwal served as the Bhartiya Janta Party’s Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha during his second tenure as an MP. Additionally, the Lok Sabha Speaker proposed him for the position of Chairman of the House Committee. Meghwal was appointed as the minister of state for culture and parliamentary affairs in May 2019.
