High Court to allow Nyantakyi to see Anas’ face before court proceedings

An investigative journalist known as Anas Aremeyaw Anas will be required to give public testimony against Kwasi Nyantakyi, who was the former president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA). This decision was made by the High Court.

However, the expert media practitioner will be hiding his identity under his signature mask.

Before the testimony, Mr. Nyantakyi will be given the opportunity to view his face in the chambers.

This decision was handed down by the judge after the attorneys representing Mr. Nyantakyi made a request to the court.

They had requested that the court grant them permission to view the genuine face of Anas Aremeyaw Anas on camera. The court granted their request.

Anas vs Kwesi Nyantakyi

This is a part of the criminal prosecution of the former football administrator that stemmed from the documentary titled “Number 12,” which aimed to expose corruption in Ghana football.

In its decision, the court said that it is in the interest of justice that whenever the freedom of a citizen is in jeopardy, that person should be provided with the necessary facilities to defend themselves because it is in the interest of justice.

It was mentioned that Anas is an important witness in the decision-making process for this case. It was pointed out that his identity becomes vital to allow the accused person to identify him and to give the accused person the ability to defend themselves.

According to the court, Anas was comfortable appearing in public while concealing his identity because he was seen in public addressing the media while wearing his bead masks.

This demonstrates that he was comfortable appearing in public while concealing his identity. As a result, the court gave the following directions regarding the proper course of action for the case:

“Investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas will testify in open court against former Ghana Football Association President Kwasi Nyantakyi, but he will do so while wearing a mask,”

However, before such testimony is given, Mr. Nyantakyi will have the opportunity to view his face in chambers.
