Alleged Shooting in Islamic SHS Ghana

At least 30 pupils from the Islamic Senior High School (Islamic SHS) in Abrepo, Ashanti Region, were transported to the hospital after police allegedly fired tear gas at them as they protested frequent road accidents in front of the school.

The fatalities were reportedly part of a group of teenagers who stopped on the Abrepo Junction-Barekese road to protest pedestrian-vehicle knockdowns involving school kids and teachers.

Angry students swarmed the road in protest, demanding that speed rumps be built on that stretch of road.

According to reports, there had been vehicular and human traffic on that section of road for more than an hour before the police arrived to clear it. Academic work has been halted as parents visit the school to check on their children in the midst of tight security.

After the incident, some parents rushed to the school to see if their wards are doing well or not.

Following the incident, some parents hurried to the school.

“I heard there was a fight in the school, and the cops opened fire on the students, shooting and beating them.” I heard the cops chasing them down and beating the girls in their dorm rooms. I feel terrible seeing schoolchildren pass out on the floor. “Everyone is messed up here,” a parent expressed their displeasure
