Ablakwa reacts to CHRAJ ruling on Rev. Kusi Boateng case

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has criticized the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) for concluding that there was no conflict of interest in financial transactions involving the National Cathedral Secretariat and JNS Talent Centre Limited, a company affiliated with Rev. Kusi Boateng.

Ablakwa raised concerns regarding a GH¢2.6 million payment made by the Secretariat to JNS Talent Centre, which is affiliated with Rev. Kusi Boateng, also known as Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

In his appeal, Ablakwa claimed irregularities and conflict of interest in the deal.

According to CHRAJ’s inquiry, JNS Talent Centre did not deliver any services in exchange for the payment, but rather reimbursed Rev. Kusi Boateng for advancing monies to contractors during the Secretariat’s financial troubles. The Commission determined there was no wrongdoing or conflict of interest.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Monday, November 25, 2024, Ablakwa called CHRAJ’s conclusions “bizarre” and questioned the decision’s rationale.

“Despite the appalling numbers and a lack of records, CHRAJ concludes that there is no conflict of interest, even claiming that the sole document Kusi Boateng/ Kwabena Adu Gyamfi prepared was after the money had already been released.

“Yet CHRAJ maintains that there is no conflict of interest. I find that weird, and I’m not sure how CHRAJ maintained its credibility to reach this judgment,” he said.

Furthermore, CHRAJ proposed a forensic assessment of the National Cathedral project and a possible prosecution of its trustees, following an inquiry into alleged corruption and power abuse.
