The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has detained Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as “Wontumi,” the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This occurred shortly after leaving the Criminal Investigations Department’s (CID) headquarters in Accra.
Chairman Wontumi has been summoned to the CID headquarters for further questioning over his alleged involvement in illicit mining, mining in forest reserves, and entering the forest reserve without authority.

He was told to reappear after turning himself in yesterday as part of his bail conditions, which he did.
However, EOCO agents apprehended him as he exited on Tuesday, May 27.
The exact reason for his arrest remains unknown.
EOCO has yet to make a formal remark on the situation.
