After being detained by police for two weeks, Emmanuel Kwakye Asare, a journalist with Wontumi FM in Kumasi, was released on bond.

On August 12, 2025, he was taken into custody and accused of one count of offensive behaviour related to the dissemination of purportedly false information with the intention of inciting terror and dread.

He was given GH₵100,000 bail by the court with two sureties, both of whom must be civil servants.

In order to finalise the bail conditions, his legal team is currently trying to finish the required procedures.

As the case progresses, Asare is anticipated to make another court appearance on September 1, 2025.

The radio host said on his show that President John Dramani Mahama was aware of the helicopter disaster that killed eight persons on August 6, 2025.

Citing continuing investigations, the prosecution argued against bail.

Recalling a similar instance in which a young man was placed on remand for insulting then-President Akufo-Addo, Presiding Judge Samuel Bright Acquah decided that he was governed by judicial precedent even though he had no justification for denying release.
