Ghanaians have turned to various social media platforms to voice their opinions following the opening group encounter between the Black Stars and Portugal. The contest will begin at 4pm in the afternoon at Stadium 974.

They hoped for a successful outcome and wished the players the best of luck, hoping that the game would conclude on a high note. Some people also offered their starting eleven and suggested formations that might be effective against the Portuguese.

On social media, several Africans sent their best wishes to Ghana and acknowledged that the Black Stars were Africa’s only realistic chance of winning the World Cup.

Ghana could not qualified for the 2018 World Cup, which will be held in Russia, despite the fact that it did  compete in the event in 2014. The former champions of the African Championship, who have won it four times, were drawn into Group H alongside Uruguay, South Korea, and Portugal.

Before heading to Qatar, the Black Stars of Ghana competed in a friendly international match in the United Arab Emirates, where they won 2-0 against Switzerland.

The Ghanaian team was aided by goals from Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu and Bristol City forward Antoine. Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, an offensive midfielder for Accra Hearts of Oak, made his debut game for Ghana and performed quite well. The victory over Switzerland brought about a shift in attitude among the fans.

Yesterday, the playing body held its final training session in the morning, and in the evening, they welcomed a CAF delegation led by Dr. Patrice Mostepe.

Sulley Muntari made an appearance as well in order to inspire the youngsters. Today in Qatar, President Nana Akufo-Addo will have a meeting with the team.
