The police have intervened to maintain order at Wesley Senior High School in Konongo, Ashanti Region, after some students allegedly went on a rampage and pelted stones at the residence of the senior housemistress.
This was after the housemistress confronted one of the candidates sitting for this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) for allegedly cheating during the exams.
In an interview, the headmistress, Rev. Agnes Gaisie, explained that after the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) paper on Friday, September 5, a male student verbally assaulted the housemistress for preventing him from cheating.
The student was invited, made to apologise, and was subsequently taken through counselling. However, on the night of Sunday, September 7, the stone-pelting incident occurred.
She highlighted that investigations are ongoing to identify the students involved.
The headmistress, however, assured that the situation is under control, adding that the police have intervened, and the examinations are proceeding smoothly.
