The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a ground-breaking initiative: introducing personalised question papers for each candidate. This is a daring step towards restoring integrity in the West African educational system.

This historic policy was unveiled during a strategic meeting with secondary school leaders from throughout the region. WAEC claims that by guaranteeing that no two applicants receive the identical set of questions in a few crucial topics, the new approach aims to prevent exam misconduct.

English Language (Papers 1 and 3), Biology 1, Mathematics 1, and Economics 1 will be affected by the deployment. Each candidate will receive a specially created question paper that is connected to their individual OMR sheet.

Exam supervisors must adhere to this innovation at a high level, according to WAEC officials. Supervisors are directed to provide an emergency copy of the paper along with a plain OMR sheet in the event that a candidate’s customised paper is unavailable.

This approach focusses on the malpractice’s foundations, such as question leaks, impersonation, and cooperation, which have weakened the legitimacy of WAEC exams over time.

“This action is revolutionary,” said a top WAEC official. “We are making it very evident that organised cheating rings and the days of exam question leaks are over.”

Stakeholders in education are now urging instructors, parents, and guardians to provide pupils with more help. Let’s start preparing our kids for this new era,” a teacher from Lagos suggested. The days of using illegal help and short cuts during exams are coming to an end. Students need to get back to the fundamentals of diligence and regular study.

Particularly during this holiday season, parents are also urged to create learning-friendly surroundings at home or look for alternate study locations for their children. It is more important than ever to guarantee that students have access to current textbooks, study aids, and emotional support.

WAEC’s action signifies a renewed dedication to academic fairness, excellence, and integrity in public evaluations throughout West Africa as the region gets ready for this historic change.
