Famous Jamaican reggae/dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel gives some advice to the next generation after spending 13 years in prison.
A Jamaican Court of Appeal ruling liberated the 48-year-old artist, and a widely circulated video shows him walking out of the jail yard.
Vybz Kartel, originally known as Adidja Palmer, gave the young person advice to “stay out of crime, as time spent in prison is a waste of life” shortly after he emerged from the confines of his jail yard.
In the video, he was seen being escorted to a car by his friends, where he gave them wise counsel.
“Tell the young people to stay out of crime; it’s not worth it. It’s a waste of time and a life, Breda.”
Dancehall artists from Ghana, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy, have since praised Vybz Kartel’s success and plan to feature the rapper shortly.
Since their arrests in 2011 and subsequent 2014 conviction for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, whose body was never located, Vybz Kartel, then known as Adidja Palmer, and his three co-defendants have been imprisoned in a Jamaican prison.
A largely circumstantial case supported by a discredited witness and phone and video records from his BlackBerry Torch led to the conviction.
