After a devastating shooting incident left her visually crippled, Suzzy Pinamang, a student at Adventist Senior High School in Bantama, Ashanti Region, has made an anguished plea for support from well-known benefactors Kennedy Agyapong and Ibrahim Mahama.
During school vacation on Friday, April 4th, the incident took place.
Form Two pupil Bernard Amoabeng reportedly brought a gun to class. Students argued over whether the weapon was working, according to witnesses.
Amoabeng is accused of firing the gun during what seems to have been a careless protest, wounding two pupils.
Suzzy Pinamang received immediate treatment at Kwadaso Hospital for a serious gunshot wound to the forehead.
She was then moved to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital due to the extent of her injuries.
Although emergency care helped to stabilise her condition, doctors affirm that the trauma caused irreversible visual loss.
Physicians say that in order to possibly recover her vision, specialist surgery would be needed.
Pinamang made a sincere appeal:
Ibrahim Mahama and the Honourable Keneddy Agyaponga, I can’t sleep and I still have gunshot wounds in my eyes, I ask you. I want to go back to school, therefore please come and make aid for surgery.
Regarding allied developments:
GH¢100,000 has been contributed by the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) to help with Pinamang’s medical costs.
In order to enable additional donations, CHASS has suggested that the family form a special bank account.
Joining the appeal, the victim’s parents are urging people to help their daughter get better.
